I am enthralled by the porcelain ball-jointed dolls made by the Japanese artist, Koitsukihime. She began creating ball-jointed dolls around 1980, inspired by the European bisque dolls of the late nineteenth century. After having a powerful dream one night about a doll, she has ever since pursued that girl and made dolls. Her dolls range in size, anywhere from 38cm to an incredible 130cm. I'd love to share photos and excerpts from her books that I have, but don't want to risk copyright infringement. There is one photo in particular, of a hand with jointed fingers and fingernails so well painted, you would swear they are real. The photos below are in the public domain on the internet. Her website is "Chateau de Lune" www.koitsukihime.jp/ and she is also on Facebook. Angel Lahoo on Flickr has a great album dedicated to her favourite Koitsukihime dolls. www.flickr.com/photos/angel_lahoo/sets/72157600505093107/

Oh my goodness, the detail on these is just amazing! Does anyone know what the copyright laws are in this instance? I would love to see that picture of the hand. Or maybe you could link us to where to buy the book?

I'd love someone to explain the copyright laws...they seem like a minefield to me. Here is the link to Treville, where I purchased the book treville.ocnk.net/product-group/22

I have been a fan for a while now. Does anyone of any galleries that carry her work and how much they cost?
