What a lovely finish. I suppose this has to be some kind of advanced polymer, instead of a mix of quartz and kaolin. Perhaps related to the marmoline or stone-like polymers.

Having felt and seen the doll up close in person now I believe it's melamine. I've worked with ceramics and the only way to make "unbreakable" ceramic is with state of the art NASA technology.The material is thermosetting and has a slight sheen. It makes sense because melamine doesn't collect dust the way porcelain does, a conducive feature for the dentelle bodies.
