I can hardly believe that Mouse had no takers. I note there is no option for shipping to countries other than the United States, that could be the problem. We need to be flexible these days.

I do think these dolls are adorable and beautifully done, but think they are just getting to expensive for many people.

I think it is the expense, too. There are only so many collectors, and even less collectors with fairly big funds to keep buying. The fall of the Canadian dollar doesn't help. For example, an asking price of 5000 USD is now 6500 Can. dollars. Brutal!

Some people are willing to pay this price, but they can't do it on short notice. If someone would like to sell a doll for a large amount (let's say anything over $1,000), it might behoove them to put it as a Buy It Now at that price. Then it can stay on the site for long periods of time while the right person collects their funds. Or if they want the doll to move...sadly a low starting bid may be the only way.

Sutton, good point! The Euro did fall also because of the Greece-crisis and I am very glad that I had the thought to pay my Lutsenko-Doll complete (even I didn't have to) BEFORE the national referendum in Greece!!! After that the Euro fell again and it would have cost me even more. I never thought that my hobby BJDs would make me look this close at the financial market and politics ;-)

I've wanted to respond to this as well as I think it is interesting.... I think right now is a very bad time for purchasing artworks and the such. The Australian dollar is pitifully low too, with the US dollar being the currency of choice I really can't purchase much these days. In all seriousness, if I had the asking bid for Mouse, or even close I would have snapped her up, she's a real little "celebrity" in the doll world, and looks to be an absolute dream to pose and play with. I've seen some porcelain BJD my heart breaks over for sale that several years ago I would have not even hesitated to buy, completely unable to afford now. Perhaps more people too are thinking what is just a "fun buy" versus a life-time purchase or a real investment. It must be very hard for doll artists right now.

I agree Orchidsdesigns I think it's a difficult time for both Artists and Collectors. If one only had to think of the purchase price it could be easier to figure out if you can afford it. I know that I have fallen in love with a couple of dolls on ebay recently-racked my brains to think how I could come up with the money to bid- but then realised that with the poor exchange rates, cost of postage, plus the import charges on top it just spirals out of reach for me, especially when it is such short notice and I'm sure many others must be in the same position. I think allurose is right- to give the option of buy it now would be a great idea. I too have been surprised when certain dolls haven't sold, and it must be demoralising for the artist to receive no bids at all, even though many people are probably bursting to bid if only they could!!
With regard to buying as an investment, personally I think one could be on shaky ground. I buy the dolls that I really like and at the back of my mind write off the money. If they keep their value, or increase in value that is fantastic and a real bonus, but to buy purely for investment purposes I think for me personally it is too risky. I have seen so many dolls being sold on the secondary market at a fraction of their original purchase price it's scary. But some people do seem to have the knack of getting this right and make a good return on their investments, so it can be done!

FYI I've moved this thread into the Chat section since in theory there should be no chat in the marketplace...but chatting about dolls for sale is obviously very fun! Please everyone feel free to continue posting auctions of pbjds you notice on eBay or other sites. If it is you selling the doll please make a post in the For Sale forum, not here. That's just to protect the integrity of the Marketplace as much as possible. People can also post links to furniture or accessories if they think it particularly appropriate to porcelain bjds.

Yes, she is very cute, but i would love to see some nude pictures just to have an idea how she looks like underneath the dress. I think if the seller would provide some nude pictures, she would sell faster.

Just checking we all noticed this ebay find www.ebay.com/itm/-/301848010053 bidding started at 100USD, I think it will be interesting to see how high it goes - 76 bids already and about 2 days to go! <3
