She looks amazing! She is working with the moon glass well. But I have to admit I'm not convinced yet. I think the blue tone of the material looks fine in this doll, but it must be hard to work with. I wonder if Moonglass can be made in more realistic flesh tones...

I love this doll, she looks so anime. I would love to see the moon glass in person, I have so many questions about it. I also wonder about the color, it works well for this doll, but there is a lot of blue in this photo. Marmite sue does like to work in white though, so it maybe this is an artistic choice. I do like how icy she looks.

Some photos - her face in particular - seem to show Moonglass looks more translucent than regular porcelain. The blue hue is present in many of her dolls. Maybe Eli uses it as a light wash before applying the skin colour? I can't say for sure as I only own some of her resin dolls. I've ordered her first doll in Moonglass though a few months ago and I'm looking forward to receiving her. Anyway I find the work on the body and the design as a whole truly amazing.

I just ordered Alice in "shell", her new flesh tone ceramic. I hadn't heard of Shell until her order form. Here's a picture comparing the two:

Looks great, but i have to tell that i like Shell better. I don't really like this shiny, glossy feel of the Moonglass.
Can i ask what is the price for Alice is Shell?

I haven't received her newsletter yet. Were you part of her mailing list or did you ask for it?

I agree with allurose, it works really well with this doll, but I'm not quite sure about it yet. I think I prefer the shell colour on the whole....

Oh, the shell color is very nice! I like that. In the photos it looks between resin and porcelain, while the Moonglass looks to me more transparent than either.
Fawkes, I am so glad you are getting a Moonglass doll! I want to hear your opinion on the material very much. And owning any one of Marmite's dolls must be a real privilege!

Oh I'm sorry I saw this so late!
I paid $900 for Alice in shell. Moonglass was more expensive. I emailed her for the price list. I don't know that I should post it here, but if you email her you can get it. I don't feel comfortable posting the whole list (I'm new to the hobby and new yo BJD etiquette lol)
I made a mistake actually and didn't read that she was posting a newsletter. I joined the list but she very graciously let me order today.

How odd that Moonglass is so much more. I suppose they aren't just different colors of the same material then. Did the newsletter say anything else about shell?

I never even heard of shell till she sent me the order form via email. To my knowledge she hasn't sent the newsletter out yet....

Thank you for the information Sunshinegirl. Eli hasn't mentioned Shell on her website yet. No photos either of the Shell version of her dolls. She's just posted she would sent the newsletter this weekend. $900 is a really low price for a Marmite Sue doll I think. Thank you, Allurose. I'm so happy too as she will be my first ceramics doll from Eli - so far I've owned 5 of her resins. I should get her in December. I must say it will be hard to resist buying a second one when I look at the photos of Alice and those posted by Sunshinegirl. I'm curious about Moonglass too as it looks very translucent. IMO Shell and Moonglass are probably the same material but the firing time must be different, maybe longer to get the whiteness and transparency. The details look sharper on the Shell version and more "diluted" on the Moonglass version...but then again I'm only guessing from the photos Eli has posted.

I like the look of Alice very much. The shell colour is really attractive - I'm still waiting for Eli's newsletter too, but perhaps the shell dolls will look rather more realistic and the moonglass more ethereal.

I know Eli for several years now and she always was so great to deal with. She is an amazing person. You can ask her about anything and she will try to help you. I love the way she is working on her dolls, always something new and exciting. I really like her Alice, but if i would order her it would be in Shell. It looks more natural to me. I am very tempted to have this doll.
