Wip pic of first Mira-mold doll (hey, could someone tell me, please, the proper spelling - "mould" or "mold"?) I think you can spell it both ways - "mould" is the British variation of "mold", but I checked some dictionaries, and the meanings are the same, so you can use either one I do hope these pieces survive the firing, the detailing on them looks wonderful!!

bibarina thank you! Here one more "before firing" pic with another head Yesterday I fired them end everything is ok. ivdolls Thank you so much! Happy to know you like them! Snegurochka Oh, thank you! It was somewhat disorienting, and now it became crystal clear, I am very grateful for the answer. Want to share some old dolls (Miss Van Helsing and Kimono cat) WiP photos First, I've sculpted a new prototype head. This doll was made for the costume bjd contest, there was no time so I used my mould of that time and changed the head and the breast (later, while modifying the porcelain casting) New head mould Preparing for the casting Pouring porcelain is not as easy done as someone might think (there are a lot of moments when something could go wrong, but you would know it only after firing) but it looks easy enough. At first, castings are not much to look at. They need refining and sanding, and after some work they look better And here's the head Then firing. I have a small kiln at home First parts are fired on low temperature (it's called "low" but in fact it is about 900°C for me), then they are sanded once more (this time in distilled water) and fired on 1250°C. Kiln firing takes much time (about 15 hours) and anticipation, but magic needs time:) Porcelain transformation is something I still can't use to. It's like alchemy! At first, porcelain is soft, somewhat plain and crude, but after, it emerges sparkling, translucent, solid and cold as marble! And after kiln firing the porcelain shrinks an average of 15 -20%. And here cat's head while refining and modifying Fingers and toes are the most time-consuming. Later I'll show some more!

It is fascinating to watch the process of doll making. I am so in awe of all of you- there is so much involved! I am looking forward to seeing more. I really like the lines of your body too, they are so elegant.

Oh I love the carving,it's so pretty, she has such a mysterious face too. In England we spell it mould, but I think in America, and maybe other places, they spell it mold. But it doesn't matter really,we know what you mean I admire anyone who can speak, read and write in another language. Please update with pictures as you go along

Mold is american english and mould is british english. Both mean the same, and both are correct. Lovely dolls, and wonderful accessories, they are fun to look at.

fitz kamia, thank you so much! I've assembled her at last, and now I know that she is 42 cm - the tallest of all my dolls. Start on making an outfit for her
