Lene, she is absolutely amazing! Your dolls just get better and better each time. I love the story behind her. She is so beautiful, and her accessories are stunning.

Being really passionate about making OOAK porcelain dolls I do my utmost to get better with every step I take. I am so happy and grateful that it is appreciated. It seems like there is many wonderful people on heartsofclay. Thank you

the price is killing me Could anyone tell me why there is that huge jump between 3500 USD and almost 5 000 USD ? and I would love to see pics with more light so I can see her body, her face and so on clearly. Hmm does she look like one of ED ?

The hours/month I have spent creating a doll and the handmade OOAK silver accessories, the start price at 4900 dollar I would get much more money on a low income job. The light this time of year in Denmark is not very good but I will do my best and I am aware that the dolls will show themselves much better with the right light. Thank you for letting me know. If you think there is a similarity to ED it is a coincidence, if you look at my other dolls none of them has a similar expression and for each new doll I make the expression will change.

Lene's dolls are beautiful in photos - but if you saw and handled one in real life you would realise just how much work has gone into the making, and how much more there is to each doll besides sheer beauty. Price definitely reflects quality in this case. If I was not in the process of having my new kitchen installed I would definitely be bidding on this amazing doll myself. I also own ED dolls and I can tell you that they are nothing at all like Jeanne.

Pianissimo, it would be nice to see your doll in "real life", out of the context of studio photo shoots. Personally I like this doll a lot; her silver accessories are amazing and quite original. As far as the face goes I don't see any resemblance with ED dolls either. Maybe Kapiszonka was talking about the shape of the knees and elbows...? Anyway Marina inspired a lot of artists and this doll is much bigger (40cm)than EDs. What worries me more is the comment made by the artist that she would get much more money on a low income job ($4,900 is a low income job in Denmark??? I earn about half that amount every month...I'm not criticising the starting price as I know it takes so much time to make a porcelain doll and her accessories but I find the side comment a bit offensive. Maybe I should move to Denmark ...

Perhaps she spent more than a month on this doll, plus one must consider the cost of supplies, electricity for kiln, kiln itself, etc. And the many months (years) to perfect the craft.
The price is similar to other porcelain dolls of fine quality.

I am not trying to offend anyone, sorry for that. I forgot to put s on month(s). It has taken me about 2,5 month of 6 - 8 hours a day to make the doll and her accessories. I also work a few hours a day with Psychotherapy so usually I work until late in the evenings, weekends too. To get where I am now has taken me about 4 years of practice making several dolls I have not shown to anyone apart from my closest friends. I am extremely passionate and just love what I am doing else I would not pay the price not seeing friends and not having time to do the things i used too do. I am aware that for some people 4900 dollar is a lot of money but there are plenty of pretty dolls to buy on eBay at a lower price so I am sure there is a doll for everyone. Thank you for all the nice words about my dolls being a bit shy to get started in this forum because putting my dolls out there is one thing but to write about them is different because I feel they are a part of who I am and that makes me vulnerable. I probably just have to practice

It is hard for some people to understand the price of the doll because it is hard to comprehend how much effort goes into making one. It is very nice of you to say how much work you have done.

I really love this doll, and one can see the hours and hours of work that has gone into it, and all the different skills it requires to pull the whole thing together. I only wish I were in a position to bid for her, as I fell in love at first sight. I think if most creative people actually charged a decent hourly rate for their work, people would be quite shocked to realise what they would have to pay. The cost of materials alone would be high for a costume and doll of this quality, let alone the hours taken to do it. When questioning the price of a doll, I think people should stop and consider how much they themselves earn per hour, and how they would feel if they were told they are not worth it, and should be earning a lot less....
This is a general comment, and not directed personally at anyone, it's just that the question of price comes up a lot in art, and knowing lots of artists appreciate how difficult this is for them.
