Hello fellow doll constructors! I'm still in my preliminary stages, but I am curious what brands of slip and china paints others are using? I have not bought anything yet.
I also am looking into purchasing a kiln and am curious what kind others have, and what your reviews are on them?
Also, where do you get your mohair for wigs?
Any information would be super helpful, thank you!

Hi! As far as I'm concerned most of my China paints are Seeleys I bought on Ebay. Some were bought in a shop too but are not the same brand. The slip I use is from the same shop; I like it a lot because it's really white and translucent. Just the kind of slip I was looking for. It's already prepared and comes in 5kg buckets. I imported the kiln from Germany - I live in France - and saved a lot of of money, even with the shipping fees. Always check the net before buying in a shop ;-) My kiln is a Rohde and the temperature is computer controlled.

Hello! Most of my paints are Seeleys or willoughby's, and a lot of the vials I have look very old and just have tape with the color name written on it, lol! I got mine from Ebay as well. I've been using Ultra Chic slip from 'The Porcelain Place' online. They have a lot of different skin colors to choose from, you can buy gallons or just pints to test a color out. I got my kiln from a garage sale, it's a manual Cress, and it works great. Although I will say I have my eye on a new kiln for the future. check out the Skutt KM-714. If you are only going to be doing porcelain dolls I think it's a great size. My kiln now is pretty big and I feel guilty only firing a few heads at a time when I'm china painting...a smaller kiln would seem really efficient! Just my two cents! Also, you can find mohair all over the place. I like ebay and etsy the best. Supplies kinda filter in and out from those sites, just keep checking regularly. There's different colors and lengths showing up all the time! Look up "mohair locks" or "mohair reborn"...you'll find some good stuff! Hope this helps! P.S. How is your doll construction going? You should post some more pics!
