Hello everyone!
My name is Crystal-lee. After recently buying a Blythe doll for my wife for her coming birthday (customized to look like her favorite book character, Flavia De Luce) I recently rediscovered my obsession with BJD. I've collected porcelain dolls my whole life and even took classes when I was very young in porcelain doll making. I discovered the beauty of BJDs in my early twenties but couldn't afford one. Eventually they kind of faded into the background and I forgot about them, probably out of disappointment.
Well now I'm back and I have actually just today, pre-ordered my very first porcelain BJD doll, an "Elena" mold from Lutsenko Dolls. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am. I've asked for some customization, namely to freckle her and give her lovely blue eyes and curly red hair. I don't know how I'll be able to wait two months to hold her!!
I have been looking at and reading all the in boxing threads on here and I think I'll probably do an unblocking video when she comes because it's just too exciting not to.
I've already picked out names and shortlisted many - all Scottish and Celtic.
Thanks for welcoming me to the community. Can't wait to get to know some fellow porcelain lovers.

Thank you Mekare! Yes she is stunning isn't she? I love her strong features and they do lend themselves quite nicely to a Scottish heritage, as I so planned for her backstory.

Three? You are such a lucky girl! I did have to do a bit of convincing to out of the blue buy an incredibly expensive doll but it was worth it!

Wow, welcome and super congratulations! Lutsenko Dolls are absolutely gorgeous- I hope you take lots of photos when she arrives!
That's so awesome that you AND your wife like dolls, my wife, alas, does not...
Oh and please do a video! I really really love videos of dolls- I think it really shows them off more clearly than photos

Kamia - the name choosing will probably last until the moment she arrives! I keep thinking I've decided and then I haven't! But maybe that's the fun. I'm a 32 year old mother of 7 animals (hehe). Most of them have human names, Stanley, Dudley, Edith, Shelby and Bob, but I haven't got to pick out a genuine doll name before.
Galacticat - The funny thing is, my wife isn't a doll collector at all. She teases me a little bit about my love, but she really has a fondness for stuffed animals and toys of any nature. If it has eyes, she treats it like it's sentient. There is a box full of stuffed animals that we don't want anymore from storage but she won't let me get rid of them. She gets emotionally attached! Lol. She's much older than I am, but I'm definitely the adult. That being said she is in love with Flavia De Luce, the character the Blythe Doll is being fashioned after, so I think she'll be totally enamored. Lutsenko dolls kind of stole my heart. I couldn't be happier with who I chose to do my doll. It's fun seeing other people's dolls and checking out their artists because it opens up some ideas for possible new dolls in the future. I will for sure do a YouTube video. And get lots of details. There are hardly any YouTube box openings of porcelain dolls. I think there's 1 or maybe 2. I hope that changes!

Oh yeah! I love those books!
I generally name dolls after book characters actually, except when the doll comes with her own name that I feel she needs to keep...
Our cats we have named after food mostly, haha

Thank you so much everyone! I really am excited beyond words. I even got a fresh lens for my camera so that I can shoot macro and get some details of the doll when she arrives. I think I've decided on her story and her name now. How do all of you pass the time waiting for your dolls to arrive? I guess it's a testament to today's society as to how awful we are at waiting for things.
