A little bit of story telling, a little bit of fantasy, and one extremely impressive and exquisite doll !
I have long searched for a doll to represent the spirit of the ancient Altai culture, so When Olga Good began to show photos of her recent creations, 3 shamans, I was totally hooked.
The minute I set eyes on the finished Shoniin, I knew she was destined to come to me, this doll was everything I had been searching for.
So without ado, I present my first photos of this incredible work of art by Olga.
Shoniin arrived in this beautiful box - I felt as if I'd unearthed an elaborate casket!
Perhaps this shaman had been interred for 2500 years. like the Siberian Ice Maiden.
Slowly and carefully I untied the satin ribbons, and there inside was my breathtaking shaman lady, gently and lovingly cossetted in velvet padding - one side black as the night, the other side the colour of the sky.
For me, it was love at first sight.
However, Shoniin thought otherwise, she did not appreciate being disturbed and remained cold and distant!
Don’t you just LOVE dolls with character!!!
Against her wishes I gently moved her to be photographed, she was not amused...
...but eventually complied!
She must have been a highly respected shaman, such an opulent costume!!
That amazing face. Look at those beautiful eyes, but don’t look for too long - this lady can see right through you!
I haven’t had the heart to undress her yet, I’m still enjoying her wonderful costume, the detail is incredible.
In her own way, Olga has captured the spirit of the ancient Altai people, and this doll has spirit and soul, you can almost hear her breathing - but her breath is cold!
I think she is summoning the ancient spirits to persuade me to let her rest now!
More photos to come when she eventually permits me to undress her! LOL
