You are very brave to take on this project, "allurose". It seems obvious that this earth mother was an early example of the FH dolls. I would very much like to see a more recent example. The costuming and ideas seem good but I have wondered about the execution of both dolls and clothing.

Yes, thank you libbymorgan and jilljackson! I have begun work on her now. I took her apart completely and removed all the loose leather. I am now studying each joint to try to solve the posing problems. I should make a thread in the workshop... I'm so grateful for this forum full of experts! <3 Jill Jackson, I have a date set with Nessa to do comparison photos with her new FH mermaid, who is very lovely! I'll post many photos later this month.

Absolutely! And this Sunday I will have my first ceramics class, hopefully there I will learn many things that will help me fix her up!

Ok, after reading this thread all the way through, I NEED to know how the project worked out! It never went anywhere. She is still in pieces. I lost steam on the project and am passing her onto a friend. The main thing that discouraged me was I realized it would be pretty much impossible to cover up her bad face paint. I am giving her to my friend complete with the leather and strings needed to finish assembling her.

I was wondering if it's possible to give a faceup to a porcelain doll.
I hope your friend has fun with her, though. I'm sure re-stringing is definitely possible.

It is possible, yes. But you would want to start with blank porcelain, or only make small additions like makeup. I gave her to her new owner yesterday who was so thrilled to have her
