Thank you all for liking this special doll. She is pretty amazing indeed, even though she suffered a very severe injury of one of her upper legs during her shipment or customs, i am still in love with her. Luckily, Anna will make a spare part and i will be able to change the broken leg .

Oh, I know what you are feeling, that she arrived with such big damage is really awful! Be assured that Anna will do her utmost to make your doll whole again. I am sure Anna is just as saddened as you are, possibly more, as she is that type of person. Your Hatun will be whole again in no time! I once received a package from Hawaii which looked like someone from Canada Post had dropkicked like a football several times. Besides all the dents, one whole corner was smashed and partially torn off. There was also evidence of water damage which made me immediately think the package was left out in a snowstorm we had the day before. Most unbelievably, the postman actually handed me the package like it was nothing. I did voice my displeasure but he just shrugged. Canada Post for you! On a happier note, your pics so far are super! Are they Anna's photos or yours? Yes, you right , Anna was really upset about it as well. I just have no idea how this might have happen. The box seems fine, as if no one opened it, but the damage is so bad, that we can only guess. Anna will have to make two parts for both legs, so they look identical. Luckily, the doll is assembled with the elastic, so i will be able to change the parts myself, without shipping her to Anna. So far i was pretty lucky with all my dolls, and i thought that with this one will be as well, but when i saw her, my heart just fell down. It was not just a crack but looked like someone smashed her with something. Very unfortunate, but still she is very beautiful, and Anna already is making new parts for her. Right now Hatun has a bandaid on her boo-boo. And those pics are mine. One time i went to Value Village to look for some fabrics, and i found this beautiful Indian dress, it was costly, so i was contemplating with myself for a while and at the end bought it with hopes that one day i will make a dress for one of my dolls. The shawl was the background for this photoshoot. IMG_9405 by ivdolls, on Flickr

Oh I didn't realize the hair crown was separate. How cool!
I agree, Anna's dolls do not have thin porcelain. For an upper leg to break it must have been subjected to pretty intense crushing pressure. This is why I prefer to buy from artists that are willing to replace parts with no cost, especially if the doll arrives broken!! It sounds scary, but replacing parts is no big deal if you are careful, whether the doll is on springs or elastic.
So happy for you and your new girl!

Thank you Sutton and Allurose. I have no doubts that Anna will do her best to make the spare part as fast as possible. When i send her the picture of the damage, she said " My poor girl". She puts so much love into her creations that they become part of her.
As to the damage, its still a mystery to me how it was done. I even checked her wooden box, if there any marks or scratches, but the box is clean and whole. So, i don't know what caused it.

Hm, I had a similiar accident... I sold a porcelain-doll and packed her VERY well. When the buyer send me pictures of a broken leg I nearly fell of my chair! I have made pics about how I packed her before I shipped her out and the buyer told me that it looked completely different when she opened the box!!!! It must have been customs! I payed her money for the repair but to be honest: I shudder at the thought if that happens now more often!!!! For a seller and a buyer it is just awful when something like that happened!

Mine wasn't stopped in customs but still had a leg breakage. Maybe it's just the shipping system is too rough for such a delicate material? It's really hard to know when the impact occurred or why it's just always so sad because the postal system never pay out as they refuse to insure delicate items (at least I've found in the past), when I buy extra insurance items such as resin and porcelain are expressly written as not covered in the policy. I buy it anyway because I'm too cautious and I do think that they might handle it better if it they think they might need to pay out for its contents.Of course, this will vary depending on where you get the insurance from too I guess But yes, everyone should double check!
