Hi everyone. Forgot to introduce myself. I don't currently own any porcelain bjds, but I sure I hope I do one of these days! Great forum here.

Oh that's great! I have four doll parties a year. Tickets to my winter meet (in two weeks) are sold out, but hopefully you can come to the one I will have in spring! We will be doing a catered High Tea, with spring theme for all the dolls. It's very fun!

You must post some of your fabulous photos, if you have not already. I have porcelains and I have BJDs but don't technically have a porcelain BJD either. I think part of what is slowing me down is that they are essentially OOAKs & getting expensive very quickly. By the time I make up my mind that I want one, it's already gone or the price has made me think twice. Am hoping the Popovy Sis will make some porcelains since I know that I love their sculpt. It's difficult to see the others in person.

Bibarina--yay! I'm always looking fior new eye candy so I'm happy to be here.
Jill: do you know if porcelain bjds in fashion doll size have always been a thing and always so expensive, or is this a new phenomena that has exploded in last 8 years or so?

I'm not aware of any porcelain fashion dolls before the late l990s, created like a BJD.

A High Tea sounds like such fun. Wish I were on the West Coast. How many people normally attend, "Allurose"? Do they dress for tea, and dress their dolls for the occasion? Would love to see some photos of the event.

Jill, if you ever come visit let me know! I used to get attendance between 15 and 25 people at my meets (I have 4 a year), but this year they have been so popular I started to have 30 or more. It was too much for my house, so now I limit it to 20. But there are always people on the waiting list, it's intense! In the summer we will have a big meet outdoors that many people can attend. People do dress themselves and their dolls, yes! I always say that participating this way is admired but not required. It gives a fun challenge to the people who have been in the hobby a while but if people are new sometimes coming to the meet is challenge enough! This year I am having a contest for dolls with Tea Party themed outfits so I expect to see lots of cute dolls participating! You can see lots of photos from my meets in the group on Flickr here: www.flickr.com/groups/2148000@N22/<3
