I am so happy to introduce this girl from Forgotten Hearts! She is one of their 13" porcelain dolls. Aiis offered me this doll to make up for the other doll I received that is older and not as nice of work. It was really terribly generous! I am so happy to welcome this girl home.

Her box was cruelly SMASHED by the post office! It is the sad reality of the postal system, sometimes these things happen. Are you as scared as I was when I saw this box? D:
~~~~
This is how the doll was packaged. No second box, no packing peanuts or newspaper. It made me very scared for her considering how the box was crushed!! Her stand got a little bent in the box but I was able to straighten it out.
~~~~
Now is the part where I am wanting to rush through unboxing because I am so scared she is broken! But I stopped to take at least this photo.
~~~~
...And I unwrapped her to find that she is completely fine! No breaks despite the post office's best efforts to smash her. We are lucky!
I had not seen pictures of this doll before I opened her, so I had no idea what to expect other than a double jointed 13" doll. And lo and behold her face is simply BEAUTIFUL! I love her subtly shaded cheeks, her neutral/cheerful eyebrows (not sad), her pretty cotton candy wig, and most of all her dichromatic eyes! What a charmer! I am in love.
~~~~
No broken fingers. The sculpt is significantly improved from my other doll. I willl take photos of them together sometime so you can all see the improvement...
~~~~
Her little feets. Someone needs a pedicure! Her stand is made to hold her floating in the air, like all the FH stands. I have since adjusted it a bit so it can hold her with her feet flat standing. Honestly I find the stand a bit wobbly. I don't feel safe keeping her in it. But I love the rubber tips on the top. It will be useful for photos.
~~~~
Can you say no to this face?? I can't!
~~~~
She has great range of motion, but she is vastly more difficult to pose than my Paperwhites. There is really no comparison. On this doll the joints catch on the leather, spring back out of position, and pop out of the socket instead of moving smoothly...she takes much more care and patience to pose than my other dolls.
~~~~
But as you can see here, she can lean forward and cross her legs at the thigh! Not many dolls can do that. Like I said, good range of motion.
~~~~
She can also touch her face easily.
Pretty eyes, my Abelle!
~~~~
I don't usually care for dolls with nonnatural hair colors, but I love this! I had planned on maybe making wigs for her someday, now I will have to find cotton candy colors to make them of!
~~~~
Close up of her eyes and eyelashes. The eyelashes are much more secure than I had heard they usually are. I think they will last a while. We shall see.
The eyes are made with the same technique as my older FH doll I think. It is unfortunate. The printed iris is good resolution, but you can see where the iris was cut out of the paper. Maybe glass eyes would be a better choice. Many companies make good quality glass eyes now. Or perhaps the white of the eye could be printed along with the iris? Then no seam would show...
But I love the color, so the eyes stay.
~~~~
She has strong blushing on the rest of her body. It isn't as subtly shaded as on her face, but it is symmetrical unlike my older doll.
~~~~
Close up of her hands. I love that the FH dolls now have lines on their palms, and the fingers have much better shape. To me the thumbs are a tad small though. And she needs a manicure!
~~~~
Here is the flaw I find more unfortunate. The hip joint does not work properly. It is as if the joint is not set far enough into the socket. If you want to straighten her hip, the elastic must press tight against this crack, and even so it is not enough to fully straighten her legs. This picture is showing the elastic is pressed tight between the back of her thigh slot and the front of her hip socket. See next picture for range of motion.

This is as straight as her hips will go. As a result, she cannot put her legs directly under her body, especially her left leg (in the foreground in the picture).
~~~~
Also because of this, her default sitting posture is leaning far forward like this. Which is very cute! But I would like her to be be able to sit straight better. If you put her torso straight in sitting position it snaps back to this leaning forward position. This may also be because there is no pin in her hip, so the elastic goes directly from her upper torso to her knee.
Pretty eyes, my Abelle!
~~~~
I have named her Abelle, which is a name of Hebrew origin meaning vapor or breath of life. It is the perfect name because from the moment I saw her sweet little face I felt she was alive! Thank you Aiis for sending this sweet doll to live with me. I will have to find her some fluffy pastel clothes to go with her look! <3
