This is a long story, I must warn you
I made one (and half) doll in 2011 (farm9.staticflickr.com/8464/8076849794_91e3e694fa_b.jpg ) and I was planning to make more dolls of this mold, but I never had a time and somehow I forgot about her completely. In 2012 I made this legs:
And I thought that they can be nice when finished so I was thinking about a body that would fit to them nicely
oh, well. I'm easily distracted and discouraged so 2015 is here and I still don't have the doll finished. But for the first time since 2011 I'm close to actually finish the doll. I don't have that much of a progress photos, I have a few somewhere on computer, but from the recent ones:
first body in porcelain almost ready to firing
and done!
I think it's rather close to the sketch I made so I'm very happy about that
I couldn't decide about the face so I made three
China paints are annoying, I'm used to paint resin dolls and it's so completely different. It's hard to switch to so different way of painting heads but I think I'm starting to understand how to do it.
I painted the body so I just have to assemble it now. Ofc I had to think about the outfits before I had an actual doll finished, so I made a few sketches and ideas for the fabrics and so... I want them to be delicate, with single joints and slim body of a not-yet matured girls, with earthy colours and costumes somehow inspired by my country folklore and nature. I'm not a sculptor, but dream of making my own dolls was with me from a long time now so I hope that this time I will really finish them. I gave up so many times along the way, that I'm slightly discouraged but uh - it was long story but I'm close to the finish now
