Thank you Allurose! I've been busy painting and hopefully can get her assembled within the next week. I promise a legit photoshoot. (I said that last doll, but I really really mean it this time!)

Wow, you are working on so much so quickly- such an inspiration! Your dolls look fantastic! I don't know who Thomas Sharpe is but that is a remarkably good likeness..

I tend to jump right into a project as soon as inspiration hits, which is rewarding but can be....cluttered. heh. I have a bunch of simultaneous projects scattered about my art space. Working on a likeness is so hard! I had to put him on the back burner, I was getting frustrated! Lol

Okay I am in love with your doll and on top of that I am just infatuated with your process. I hope you don't mind me asking you 1000 questions as I follow in your footsteps. Also do you know your doll's final firing size? Our dolls have started at roughly the same size (mine is 18" now) - I'm curious where she'll end up.

Ask me as many questions as you want! WES tutorial is the one I followed also, she lays it out very simply. It looks like the pictures don't load anymore, that's a shame, but with all the "in Progress" pics from all of us here, you should be able to do just nicely! Flat footed, my original girl stands just a little over 15 inches....so I think that ended up being around 18% shrinkage? It's so amazing when you pull the tiny porcelain pieces out of the kiln for the first time! I use ultra chic porcelain slip, so I'm not sure about other brands shrink percentage. I will try some different brands as soon as I use my last gallon up. Good luck and have fun! Message me any time.

That's one of the best tutorials around. I wonder if we could contact that artist and ask for the photos and text to be archived here...

Still working on this handsome guy...as you can see I've gone totally fantasy elf on this whole project, hehe! (I can modify his ears in the raw porcelain stage to be human) I've been experimenting with different styles of horns that will end up being attached magnetically. He will probably be ready to mold in Jan next year...I promised myself I wouldn't rush. I've got to perfect the sculpt and then disassemble him for the joints. I haven't decided if I want to give him single or double hip joints yet... anyways- that's what I've been up to lately! 2016-11-30_04-58-55 by EarthShine Doll, on Flickr
