Hello everyone,
My name is Robin and I'm from Massachusetts. I have loved dolls and dollhouses for as long as I can remember. As an adult, I learned about BJDs from Japan and got into them for a few years. But, what always troubled me was the yellowing of the resin. I do adore resin dolls. I have a gorgeous doll named Evergreen made by the talented Alice Leverett. She has not yellowed in the slightest in the 10+ years I have owned her. But, my other resin bjd made by Volks of Japan has yellowed slightly over time, despite my careful storing of her. And I think that is the case for many of resin dolls being made these days. I'm not wealthy, but I'm willing to invest in a gorgeous doll, but not for it to deteriorate in just a few years. To get to the point, porcelain BJDs are a dream! No yellowing and so pleasing to handle and pose, but the prices Reflect all the time and labor that goes into them and that can be tough on a small budget.
My first (and only so far) is Poppy made by Teri of Paperwhite dolls. She is so well-made and delicate. Once I figure out how to post pics, I'll be sure to add some.
Thank you to all who participate on this forum. I have so enjoyed the conversations and photos that I have seen so far.
Robin

Hi Robin- lovely to meet you! I too have a Paperwhite doll by Teri- she is Odette, one of her ballerinas. Poppy is lovely, and it would be great to see some pictures of her here. It will encourage me to take some more of Odette too- she has been sadly neglected of late lol! There are several of us who own Paperwhite dolls here on the forum.
There is definitely something special about porcelain, and this is a fantastic place to see all these wonderful creations!

Hi Robin! It's great that you've joined us here ^^ I love that about porcelain dolls, their ability to last forever. The deterioration of resin is difficult I feel... but I know some resin owners call this a sign of love! I'm saving for my first porcelain at the moment, but it's hard to resist the (more) instant gratification of getting resin. Is that your paperwhite in your pic? She is beautiful! I believe allurose made a guide how to post pictures here so I hope that helps ^^

Hi Robin!
Welcome. It's nice to see a member from MA! I hope last winter was not too bad for you. It left me with no down (me) time to enjoy my dolls, or my yarn, etc. I have mostly Volks, and then Marmite Sue resin. (Thank you for your welcome in my intro thread). Your avatar doll is so lovely.

Hello hello! So happy to have another Paperwhite fan on the forum. I recognized your Poppy immediately! My Alisha was made right after the Poppy girls. I saw your doll in person when I was deciding on Alisha's custom details. A very beautiful doll. I can't wait to see pictures! Let me know if you can't figure the pictures out. <3
I think you will find many fans of porcelain over resin here! I love my resin dolls, but I f I could get all my dolls in porcelain I would. <3

Not sure what happened, but I posted a response here and somehow it got blasted off into cyberspace. So here is another to thank everyone for such a warm welcome. I've enjoyed reading the older posts and loved to hear the different thoughts and opinions on the pricing of dolls. Love the box-opening photos too. Once I get my act together I'll certainly post photos. My poor girl is nude so she's been buying fabrics on eBay while I'm not around and when the packages arrive, she plays dumb. Haha. My only issue with my Paperwhite doll is that she came with the barefoot style of feet and wish she had the ones that fit into shoes. Her cute little toes are all flared and probably would only fit into Birkenstocks. ;-)
My latest doll is a resin bjd from Doll Chateau that I will use as a sewing model. Love the size and fun proportions of their bodies. Hearing what attracts a person to a particular doll is so interesting to me.

Just a little note to let everyone know that it's still me, Robin. Just changed my username for Internet Privacy sake. My other username on boards has been Crabbygirl13, but it doesn't sound too friendly so I'm updated to my other name, Kitty Bubbletea. ;-)

Just FYI at least on Tapatalk your username will remain the same. That's why I am Admin on mobile/Tapatalk and allurose if viewed from desktop. Annoying I know! If you like I can help you delete your old account and create one with the username you want.

If you like I can help you delete your old account and create one with the username you want. That would be great. It's crazy trying to sync everything up. I have been a member of another group for years so I need to keep that username, but it makes it hard to be consistent when I don't want yo use that same name in other places. Was installing Tapatalk on my phone (android) and on my ipad and just getting the profile avatar to upload was a chore. Not sure why. Then instead of being able to log with my Tapatalk account I had to individually log in to each forum so I could maintain my member history. A bit confusing. Any advice in your experience? Robin :-)
