I like your WIP progress photos! It never occurred to me to attach the heel separately- *smacks forehead*
How did you manage the relief? Was it a build up or did you carve it out? Everything looks so clean and perfect- it must have taken you forever...
So have you had these cast yet? Do you do your own casting? These are going to look really gorgeous...

Wow! so many questions! lol To begin with I wasn't too sure about the shape I wanted to give the heeels. Also I thought they would be most fragile part so sculpting them separately and soldering them last made sense. The relief was mainly carved and filed - wood carving tools are very useful. I just added some wax granulation at the very end. And yes it took a great deal of time especially when you start from scratch and discover techniques as you go... I'm not going to cast them myself. I've spotted a foundry which might be able to help me with that.
btw I got a mail from Eli and I should be receiving my doll very soon...

Oh awesome, well I can't wait to see the finished cast. Those shoes are going to look amazing!
So happy to hear you are getting your doll soon! Please post pictures when you do- I'm dying to see her!!
