I really like her look and that outfit <3 Many congratulations! It's a shame about the hand, but I'm sure you'll be able to swap the new one on ok and she'll be good as new. My girl's lower leg keeps popping off but luckily there have been no breakages so far. With just a piece of string I've managed to get her back together easily. I do like this artist's styling Sorry to divert the topic but--oh dear your doll's leg keeps popping off?? What can you mean? It sounds awful!

She really is otherwise an awesome doll, I owe her some more photos and posing. I think I was put off a bit by her fingers coming off, but I think I can get over it now... That sounds very alarming about the leg on your doll popping off?! Is it coming out of the joint? Is there a failure of the springs or elastic or design ?

Excellent that the artist is so generous! I presume she loves all her creations and would not want one to be displayed fingerless. All ends well! Except that I will stay away from the said charity auction. Maybe they should stick to auctioning off unbreakables and mention that contacting them after the sale is impossible.
Embers, what is this about a porcelain lower leg that won't behave?? I too am intrigued about this-- in a not-so-good way. What doll is this??? Maybe Allurose can start a new thread about this. What to do about a porcelain lower leg that keeps popping off....lol.

Congratulations on getting the doll, galacticat. It is very disappointing to have it arrive with a problem & then not have the seller even respond, when they are the ones who packed the doll. They hold this auction every year. If they want people to spend money on their charity, they really should take care of a problem they created. Not only will people not want to participate by buying, but the artists are not going to want to donate their creations if they aren't properly cared for.
The doll is gorgeous. I really like this artist. It's nice that she responded to you.

I am so pleased, the artist is also going to send me a COA Oh that's great! I love those as keepsakes, and you never know when you will be needing to prove a doll's authenticity. It's not too common with pbjds thank goodness, but with resin dolls it has become very important. I like to get a doll with a CoA, custom box, custom stand, preferably with clothes too. It feels like the complete package. I know it would be cheaper without all that, but I buy dolls so infrequently. When I DO buy a doll I want the full experience...revel in the luxury...

I like the details too- it makes me feel better about emptying the account for a doll

The artist will ship me a new hand if I pay for shipping from Italy, which is more than fair of her as it was evidently the Italian Doll Convention person who mailed her to me, not her. She had donated the doll to them to sell for charity. The weird thing is that the IDC ebay seller has been completely unresponsive to me. I found the artist on my own, and contacted her through facebook. I am not sure why the IDC is ignoring my emails unless they registered possibly with an un-monitored email address. It is great that IDC sold some dolls for charity, but it seems unprofessional of them to just ignore me now. The doll WAS mailed via insured FedEx and the cost of shipping me a new hand should probably be covered if they would only file a claim. Given their responsiveness, I would probably recommend avoiding their auctions unless you are actually going to the IDC to pick up your doll... Maybe you should file a claim with ebay and join the photos of the broken hand; they are very efficient and fast - don't forget to let them know you sent mails to the seller which were left unanswered.

Probably I should have, but I had already left positive feedback before taking her out of the box, and so I don't think you can open a claim after that. Maybe why they are ignoring me now.
Plus, I wouldn't want an entire refund or to send the doll back, it really was for a very good charity and I LOVE the doll. I am happy with the solution I got, it just would have been better if maybe they had filed an insurance claim, because then the artist at least could have received compensation for the hand.

Yes, you can open an eBay claim even after you've left positive feedback! It happened to me and I got the purchase price and shipping cost refunded. It's great that you love your doll and, no, I wouldn't want to send her back either. At least if the auctioneers had answered with a kind word or two...

Oh I didn't know that! Well, I will open a claim since I have STILL not heard from them.
I just did so, I guess it falls into the category of a return? Not sure. Well I asked for a refund of the shipping price only so I can pay the artist for mailing me a new hand. Hopefully they understand that is all I want and not a refund of the doll.

OOps sorry I didn't see these comments about 'my' leg popping off It's her lower leg and therefore also her foot that has come off twice now... I think the catch that holds the spring has bent and opened up too much so sometimes when I bend her leg the spring end must slide off the catch. She's a Forgotten Hearts doll and was only made last November. I should take some pictures and start a thread. I can possibly bend the catch so that it closes around the spring end, but whenever it's happened I've not been anywhere with suitable tools to try this. I can tell that this is not normal though so I should really fix her. Sorry to write on your thread galacticat, and sorry to hear you've not got the hand yet. I hope it gets sorted soon!

Oooh- that's too bad about the leg. I have heard some worrisome things about the joints of the FH dolls...
The hand will be coming soon I think- the artist posted a picture of it, I think she is very busy and has not had time to go to the post. I am totally fine with waiting.
I did end up opening an ebay dispute, asking the seller to send the cost of shipping a new hand to me, so that I could pay the artist for the same, and letting them know that I was sorry to open a dispute but had still not heard from them. Well, they actually continued to ignore me until ebay stepped in and asked the seller to send a shipping label for a return. Of course I don't want to return the doll- and I'm SURE the seller doesn't want me to either. So they finally responded and said that they'd work out shipping of the hand with the artist so I could close the dispute.
I will definitely close it- but I do feel like it might be good to wait until the hand ships. Unfortunately, the ebay seller for the IDC has not proved himself/herself to be particularly reliable to date...
I can't wait to put the hand issue behind me- I feel it is raining on my love/excitement for the doll who just doesn't deserve it!
I don't care if the IDC hates me now but I do hope that the artist doesn't have sour feelings toward me. I will definitely be keeping an eye on her creations in the future- I think she is very talented and has actually a lot of potential to get even better than she is now...

Do not close the dispute until the seller fulfils their promise and pays the artist for shipping!!!. Ask the artist to send or at least show you proof of this (Paypal receipt or such) before closing the dispute. You are correct--why should you care what the IDC thinks of you when you did nothing wrong and they are the ones who are negligent and unreliable. They seem to expect you to accept any damage without saying a word. What if the doll's body had arrived broken? It happened to me with a doll coming from the States. Her upper torso was shattered!! Luckily the artist was absolutely amazing in resolving the problem. BUT, imagine if this had happened to your doll! Would the IDC have answered your emails then? Such unacceptable behaviour from them!!! If they chose eBay as their selling medium, then they have to abide by the rules all eBay sellers must abide by. The IDC is not exempt from eBay rules just because this was a charity auction. Shame on them. Please, please, enjoy your doll. She is adorable. And the artist has shown herself to be approachable, understanding and generous. I think no one on this forum would hesitate to order a doll from her if they were so inclined. How could the artist possibly have anything against you when all you want is to enjoy one of her creations "whole". You clearly love the doll.
