Haha! You are a funny pair arent you! Well considering 6 months ago I didn't even know if I wanted a doll at all ... yes true .. I have put boundaries on my new-found fanaticism being: one cabinet, 4 dolls. Ask me again next year :/
Truly though, I have done the same. I did some serious financial planning and realized I need to start saving for a baby and maternity leave. So there will be no new dolls for me, just depth of enjoyment for the ones I have. I LOVE dolls and there are many I want, but in comparison to a baby...there is no comparison.
Besides, I do believe people in his hobby enjoy it more when they spend more time with fewer dolls, buying them new clothes, taking pictures, etc. A constant instream of new dolls is overrated. Quality over quantity.
So congrats to you on whatever boundaries make sense in your life. <3
@allurose - sounds like you have exciting plans ahead! I totally agree, there is a lot to be said for being confident in your collection and loving it without lusting for more. The constant stream of dolls can become all encompassing!
Dina, there are still some amazing and comparable porcelain dolls that are way below $10,000. There seems to have been a bit of a bidding war early in Demetra's auction. I do not know why buyers would want to raise the price so early-- it seems so counterproductive. But, one has to be happy for the artist.
