I want to goth-up Talarah's pretty face for an upcoming doll show here. What materials have you used for temporary makeup on your porcelains?
Being I want to achieve near black lipstick etc I am a bit nervous!
Thanks

I use human makeup and/or acrylics. It's easier than a resin doll because you can't stain the doll. I use the same tiny brushes that I use for a resin faceup. It's fun, good luck!

yeah! Just use regular makeup...you could try liquid eyeliner to give her black lips.(since it comes with a tiny pointed brush anyways) Watered down acrylics can make great eye shadows, and you can even and a little shimmer to the eye lids. Sounds fun!!

Acrylic paint or thick watercolours works fine too, afterwards you can just wash it off.

This thread is maybe where someone can help me. Please. I have a beautiful porcelain doll that has been up for sale and someone politely wrote to me asking for more pictures. Especially of the mouth. I am the second owner and the doll has lots of pictures everywhere however one could not tell whether the mouth was textured or not. The doll was packed away, my porcelains are in very good shape as I don't play with them at all. I went to photograph her mouth and noticed that indeed there was texture and it was rough. With my thumb I rubbed to feel the texture and the paint came off! I removed all of the paint on her mouth within a minute. I was really surprised. I took pictures of this new mouth but honestly am still a bit in shock. I wasn't expecting in so I went looking for an answer. Overglaze painting is how the process was described on the doll makers description, which when I researched is a time honoured tradition. However I want to know this. Should it have been sealed? Is this normal that it wasn't? Should I repaint the mouth? I am lost here guys and really need an input from the forum. Thank you for reading this far.

Did you reach out to the artist? I’ve never had an issuer with any porcelain dolls. I would be really sad to have this happen. Hope someone can help.

Anna I agree with tanoy13 . You should contact the artist and ask for advice. I only know china paint and this is not removable. Overglaze painting is a subject I didn't know but that you can remove it with your thumb sounds awfull! If it is removable this easy I would never buy a doll painted like this! But I can imagine that something went wrong painting your doll...

I made a gentle attempt to communicate privately via social media simply to ask what paint was used. I will wait a little longer for a response before I email. Thank you.

I was very upset. But felt it was worse to leave half the paint on. Maybe she was designed so that she could wear different looks easily. Maybe as you suggest it is as simple as something went wrong. Thank you kindly for responding, I greatly appreciate your response.
