I haven't tried, but how easy is it to sell your dolls. First for me it is hard since I am emotionally attached, even if not playing with them anymore. But then there is thinking about pricing. I just cant get there. So the question is how successful have you been with reselling?

I just cant get there. So the question is how successful have you been with reselling? it is very hard to resell the porcelain bjd ( unless of course they are EDs ). The demand for porcelain dolls is very small. Majority of doll collectors buy resin dolls that are more durable and less expensive. I had to sell very few of my porcelain dolls and it was for much less than i payed for them.

I haven't tried- (like allurose clutches dolls lol!!) But I agree with Sutton, this is what I have observed too. As they are so much more expensive than resin bjd's I think one factor is that people don't always have the money to spend at the time dolls become available- I know this has happened to me several times. Also, when buying second hand, you potentially lose that link with the artist, if there are breakages or any other problems...
I would definitely consider buying second hand from an active fellow forum member, but to be honest I would think twice about purchasing second hand if I didn't know anything about the person selling. Also a factor for me with price- Unless it was a doll I would absolutely die to own, I don't think I would want pay the original price for a second hand doll, purely on the basis that I would rather spend that much money on a new doll directly from the artist themselves, as if there are any problems/breakages in transit etc. I know this will be sorted out without any bad feelings.

I sold many dolls)))) I can say that I sold all for higher price than I paid for them. All the dolls have been sold on eBay. I totally agree with you girls. It is very difficult to sell porcelain BJD. But it is possible. Very important - great pictures. I have "list" for myself of dolls artist and if I buy doll from this "list " I know that doll can never be sold for the price I paid. it's incredibly stupid to sell for a low price and wasting money. When I buy a doll I have to love it very V E R Y.. and I must to think that it will be impossible to sell ..)))) I don't agree regarding secondhand market .. Price for some dolls on secondhand market is better than you buy dolls on ebay auction for example. And I don't think that may be some problems with repairs .. eventually. I decided for myself that I will never buy dolls on auction (if it is not porcelain ED he-he)))) it is better to deal directly with doll artist.

I never seem to sell any of my dolls-resin included unless I see a WTB. Then I start, but it shows me that the demand is there. I guess I think no one is going to want them. This is in regards to my resins. I havent sold a porcelain yet. But I did originally buy most of my dolls thinking I would never sell them. So for me when buying originals, I am not thinking about resell price. The other issue is that a lot of the dolls I bought from an artist I know either in person or have had many conversations with on the web, I feel it would hurt their feelings if I sold the doll.

I was okay with selling my resin dolls, both emotionally and financially (it was hard to let some of them go, I admit). I have considered selling some of my porcelain girls a few times, but I couldn't bring myself to do it! They are more personal to me for some reason. They inspire me a lot, and I think of them as friends in a way, you know? Plus, as Fitz mentioned, I have had many conversations with the artists who made my dolls, and in several cases, they made the dolls especially for me. So there is more of an emotional connection because of that, I think. I'm not saying I couldn't ever let go, you never know what the future will bring. But it's definitely harder for me, and something I hope I won't have to do, or at least, not for a very long time!

It's very hard to sell a porcelain doll. Unless it's a doll in high demand (like EDs), it's unlikely that you'll sell it for the amount you paid. The same goes for resin dolls as well these days. Tbh I hate selling dolls (resin or porcelain) 'cause it's often a hassle trying to find someone willing to give you a decent price.
It's actually come to the point where unless I'm 100% sure that I'll want this doll forever and if needed, I can resell it for the same price I paid, I don't bother buying it.

I had to sell two dolls also in the past and I always "only" got around the half of that amount that I paid. Minus the ebay-charge ;-) The first time I made the mistake to list her on the german ebay-page what was very unsuccessful (no one bid). Selling them on ebay.com went all in all well. No bad experiences with buyers or shipping. I was very nervous though because shipping internationally takes so long. I was always glad when the parcel arrived safe and sound.

I think a BJTales porcelain would sell for a profit, though I have never seen one for resale. Now that's a doll I'd love to add to my collection!

Luckily, i've had good luck reselling dolls...even a couple expensive ones. But to be honest, i'm really tired of the buy/sell merry-go-round...i'm really trying to only buy dolls that i'm really sure about (not just a whim purchase!). At least i know that i like the small dolls...that limits me!

I've been collecting for years. Your tastes do change over time. Now I would like to sell some of the dolls I have outgrown. It's not easy...

I haven't sold any porcelain dolls because I just ordered my first one! I hope I never have to sell her!! I have sold many resin bjd! Actually to start this hobby I went down from having 12 resin bids to 7 so I would have enough funds to ordered my first artist doll! I wasn't very attached to some of my resin bjd so it is easy to sell them. Some of my bjd are so special to me that I could never part with so I think it just depends!

Really in the last few years, it does seem a lot of new very talented artists have emerged. My first PBJD I saw was one from Alina Ivanova, and of course I was hooked.(I had no experience of bjd's in general, not even resin! Porcelain was my first love.)So I researched and researched...of course ED, and also forgotten hearts...but other than that, it seemed very few and far between. Now, There are so many talented artists, more than I can count on my fingers and toes, lol! It must be hard to resell. I'm sure good quality and uniqueness play a big factor. Really though, everybody has a specific taste and usually coming up with funds is the main issue!

I'm better at buying dolls than selling them. I do sell some from time to time. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed and like I have too many dolls. Or I feel guilty that maybe I don't appreciate them all properly and should pass them on to people who'd do more with them. Some (resin dolls, Blythes) are half-finished customization projects that may never materialize, and I think I should just give up on the idea. Or I tell myself that if I sell my least favourite dolls, I could buy dolls I like better.
But then it's a hassle to take the photos and do listings. Most dolls sell for less than they originally cost, and can take time to sell. Usually I only get around to it when I'm trying to raise money for something specific, or when I'm about to move. I haven't tried selling porcelain dolls though, as I don't have very many.
