I have been wondering this lately; every doll maker nowadays covers their dolls with tattoos, soon there will be no dolls without them. And tattoos are getting bigger and bigger, earlier it was only one small tattoo, but now the whole doll is covered with them. What do you think about this issue? Are all the tattoos always a great thing, or are you getting tired of them? Would you wish to see more "normal" dolls, without tattoos and engravings? Personally I love tattoos, on my dolls and on me . And I am planning getting more and more tattoos on my own skin before I turn 50years The tattoos on dolls make them unique and every artist can put more personality on the doll with the tattoos and make the doll more of an art piece. So my opinion is; yes please, tattoos, more tattoos <3

Personally I like them but I also like a combination .. with, without, big, small. I think the doll makers market is growing and this provides another way to extend their artistry and uniqueness.

Yes I like tattoos too, but not simply for decoration - I prefer them to be meaningful. A perfect is example Olga Good's Shamans.

I only have one doll with tattoos, I feel they make them less flexible for costuming. But I see the appeal. Some of them are quite beautiful, I also have a doll with carving.

I adore looking at dolls with tattoos- but on the whole I tend to buy ones without- as fitz said above- it makes them less versatile for costuming. However, I would definitely love one of Olga Good's shamans!!

For me it very much depends on the tattoos themselves. I have no tattooed doll, but was completely smitten by Madame de Pompadour by Marina B. I love that they were decorative, rich and dense at the same time playful. Which to my mind was perfect. And the bee, that was genius. I am not long back really looking at dolls and there are some stunning tattooed dolls out there. I love when they have meaning for the dolls character. I am also fascinated by carving. As a carver, I would just love to carve on a doll. Marmite Sues Alice to me is the essence of doll, because of her carved lacy body. I am in absolute awe of her dolls and her work. Yep, Olgas shamans are just glorious. I need to be shown more and more dolls, with or with out tattoos. ( I feel like I am still finding my feet.)

Kids these days!!! In MY day our dolls were pure white porcelain! Just kidding! I would love to have a doll with tattoos, but I don't right now. I think a lot of the more elaborate tattoo ones are kind of full set dolls, they have one look. That is not usually my preference, I like to interact with art by changing the look. But I have seen some tattooed dolls that I would just love to have. These are my favorite tattoos on a doll I have ever seen: flic.kr/p/HQEmTM

I have to agree, Demetra by viktoriyaartdoll is also one of my favorite tattooed dolls. Her colors and design are so complimentary to many costuming opportunities.

I like dolls with tattoos if they are part of a doll's story and image. But at the same as it was said above, a tattoo limits the dolls versatility to be stylised in different ways. So tattoo art dolls to admire, blanks to dress up and play with!

I second @allurose Those are exactly the type of doll tattoos I like... Generally I'm not THAT interested in dolls with tattoos because of the way it does create a theme which then can make her less versatile, however it can also add to the doll. I have really enjoyed seeing new tattoos which are along the edge of the thigh joints too, with similar style flowers, or the gold trim done by TaniaCh. So I would buy a doll with the tattoos I love, but I'm not a fan of the pure blue tattoos.
