Part of the false ceiling of the reception hall of the Provincial Council of Ciudad Real, one of the most representative rooms of the heritage, artistic and cultural value that the Provincial Palace treasures, has detached at an indeterminate moment from the afternoon of last Friday to first thing today. The detachment has affected one of the areas of Ángel Andrade's canvas that covers the entire false ceiling, specifically the one that hits the strip of the main balcony of the building, which dates from 1889.
Faced with this unforeseeable eventuality, the president of the Provincial Council, José Manuel Caballero, accompanied by the vice Colombia Mobile Number List president who manages the Infrastructure area, Manuel Martínez-Alcorocho, has met, as a matter of urgency, with technicians from the Department of Architecture and the Conservation and Restoration with the objective of analyzing the situation and establishing a calendar of actions and the work system to return the ceiling of the reception hall to its original appearance as quickly as possible.
The landslide has affected an area of the Palace that has remained unchanged for more than 125 years, when the building was built to house the administrative headquarters of the provincial Government. Although it has undergone several interventions over the last few years, the last one last year at Easter, when the right corner of the main flank that aligns with the balcony at the height of the shield of the old judicial district of Almadén was restored.
In a first examination of the situation, the architectural technicians have determined that there is no structural problem, so they consider that the collapse has occurred because the false reed ceiling that supports the plaster where the canvas is anchored has fallen. Andrade. From now on, all the necessary tasks will be carried out so that this work by the Ciudad Real painter presents, as soon as possible, its usual appearance. As is known, Andrade decorated the most representative ceilings of the Provincial Palace and the dome of the main staircase with his paintings.
Specifically, in the reception hall he used historical-literary compositions as was the case with the romantic nationalism of the time. “Don Quixote” was the chosen theme, as it constitutes the provincial symbol par excellence and the spirit of La Mancha, with the Provincial Corporation being its representative and guarantor.
Holy Week returns with force to Villarrubia de los Ojos (Ciudad Real) after two years without being able to celebrate it. Starting this Palm Sunday, this Festival of Regional Tourist Interest in Castilla-La Mancha begins with an extensive program designed by the Board of Brotherhoods of Passion, in collaboration with the Villarrubiero City Council, which faces its main days after the proclamation of Amparo Cañadilla Medina.
The mayor of Villarrubia de los Ojos, Miguel Ángel Famoso Fino, highlights how “after two years in which we have had to give up with great regret to live the very special moments and rituals of our Holy Week, the processional parades return to our municipality, and we will be able to contemplate our rich imagery, which dresses our streets with so much beauty and the green, white and purple color of our brotherhoods.
And he adds how "we are looking forward to enjoying our processions together again, the smell of incense, the sound of bugles and drums, 'Los Encuentros' and the slow and rhythmic walk of the 'steps' of our Holy Week of Regional Tourist Interest supported by the faith of our brothers. In addition, he sends a very special message to the brotherhoods and the population: “To our brotherhoods, to the Parish, municipal workers and to all the people who make the celebration of the Villarrubiera Passion possible, I want to convey my personal gratitude and that of the municipal government team. Thank you for your work and for keeping the flame lit! And to both you and the rest of the population, I appeal to responsibility to continue fighting the coronavirus in these days of reunion.
