Jill, if you ever come visit let me know! I used to get attendance between 15 and 25 people at my meets (I have 4 a year), but this year they have been so popular I started to have 30 or more. It was too much for my house, so now I limit it to 20. But there are always people on the waiting list, it's intense! In the summer we will have a big meet outdoors that many people can attend. People do dress themselves and their dolls, yes! I always say that participating this way is admired but not required. It gives a fun challenge to the people who have been in the hobby a while but if people are new sometimes coming to the meet is challenge enough! This year I am having a contest for dolls with Tea Party themed outfits so I expect to see lots of cute dolls participating! You can see lots of photos from my meets in the group on Flickr here: www.flickr.com/groups/2148000@N22/<3 Allurose, I was looking at you pix of the Winter 2014 meet-up. Are those dolls all yours, or do some belong to other attendees. There is quite a variety. I even noticed a few Evangeline Ghastly girls. Just looking at the types of dolls represented, it seems to me that there is a strong influence from Volks, though I do see some of the French artists represented. What do you think?

Oh no, they aren't all mine for sure! There were almost 130 dolls at my last meet from 19 attendees. My partner and I collectively own about 30 dolls. You can see photos of most of the ones I actually own on my flickr here: www.flickr.com/photos/86207086@N03/sets/Yes, Volks does seem to be pretty popular, and dolls of that style from other companies. My meets are open to all dolls (except illegal recasts), but since I mostly post about them on DoA a majority of the dolls are ABJDs. Also the spread you are seeing is represents people's entire collection including older dolls (the challenge for the party was to bring all your dolls). So there is a lot of Volks because they have been around the longest (?) and some of these people have been collecting for many years. I think most of the french dolls are newer, is that right? I have been hoping someday a Cerisedolls will show up! Also, 415ea, I'm sorry for hijacking your thread! You have started an interesting conversation and then we ran with it!

The number of Volks dolls makes sense also because they had a retail store in LA. The increase in French dolls may be due to the fact that they have more recently (last 5 years or so) been increasing, but also that Jpop Dolls, is located on the West Coast and she does pre-orders for several French Artists along with others, Kaye Wiggs being the first I believe. I thought I saw a Lillycat (Cerise) doll tucked in there somewhere but could be mixing that up with another doll.
Your dolls are lovely. We do have a few of the same dolls--Hazy (Elfdoll) for instance & Antoinette. Love your Limhwa To You, blond.

Hahaha! Glad I could get the conversation started! :-)
Oh, it's good to know that the meet ups aren't just for folks with porcelain dolls!

If there was I didn't see it! But that's possible that I missed her?
