Welcome to the forum! Please take a few moments to read the rules before posting.
General Behaviour
Be kind to others and when discussing dolls. Hate or disparaging comments directed at other users or dolls will not be tolerated. Comments that reveal discrimination based on age, gender, appearance, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability status will be deleted and may result in a user ban.
This is a 13+ forum. Please help us keep this forum safe for teens. Refrain from using adult language and profanity. Tasteful nude photos of dolls are allowed on this forum. Photos of dolls in sexual situations are not. Photos or descriptions of gore, violence, or violation of children are not allowed.
This is an English forum. Please post only in English. If your English is not very good, do your best and make use of web-based translators.
Spamming is not permitted. This is defined as repeatedly making very similar or simple posts promoting your business or to increase your post count.
These rules for General Behavior apply to the entire forum including avatars, signatures, profiles, the off-topic subforum, and the Chatbox.
The moderators of Hearts of Clay reserve the right to ban users or remove posts when they think it necessary.
Advertising Guidelines For Artists
Advertising is permitted only in certain areas of the forum.
You may provide links to Marketplace sales posts in your signature
You make make threads in the Doll News subforum to announce new releases, sales, etc.
You make make a thread in the marketplace for ongoing sales and commissionable services (Example: Wigs by Sarah).
You may post photos of your dolls or doll items in the Gallery, however the intent should be to share the doll and photo, not to make a sale. You may not mention that the item is for sale in the photo descriptions.
You may discuss your projects or ask questions about your process in the Workshop forums. You may not mention that the items are for sale in the Workshop forum.
On Topic
To be considered On Topic for this forum, a doll must:
-Be constructed primarily of fired porcelain
-Be ball jointed in at least 11 places. This is to exclude statues and figurines, which are best discussed elsewhere. Porcelain dolls with fewer joints may be permitted at the discretion of the moderators.
-Be a doll currently or recently produced (not an antique doll).
-Be an original work by an artist. Dolls with molds created entirely or partially from another artist’s work are recasts and will not be tolerated. Users found to be creating or promoting recast dolls will be banned.
The moderators reserve the right to declare a doll off topic if they deem it does not fit with the themes of the forum and porcelain BJDs.
There must be at least one on-topic doll in each photo you post. The exception to this rule is in the Workshop forum, where you may post pictures of your projects with or without a doll.
Technical Rules
Only one account is permitted per user and only one user is permitted per account.
Please refrain from hotlinking images. Images must be hosted by your own account on a photo hosting website such as Flickr or Photobucket.
When quoting a photo post, please remove the photos from the quote. This conserves bandwidth and keeps the same person’s photos from dominating a thread.
Avatars should be 150px by 150px.
Signatures may contain images 300px by 75px or smaller. Multiple images must add up to 300px by 75px or smaller.
Marketplace Rules
Marketplace Access will be granted after a post count of 20. Refrain from making spam posts simply to gain Marketplace Access. Find something interesting to say!
You may only post references to sales in the Marketplace, in your signature, or on your profile. The references must be links to your post in the Marketplace. This is to prevent users from selling or buying dolls on the forum without Marketplace Access and helps prevent scams.
Sales may consist of on topic porcelain BJDs and accessories designed for them such as wigs, clothes, jewelry, and shoes.
If your item was originally made for another doll, such as Barbie or an ABJD, you must list which porcelain dolls specifically would fit this item. Example: “Barbie vest, fits Enchanted Dolls and Delicacy Dolls.”
You may make yourself a thread in the Feedback subforum and post links to feedback you may have in other locations such as eBay, Etsy, or other doll forums. Buyers will use this thread to leave feedback for transactions in the Marketplace.
If you wish to leave feedback for another member, first search for their name in the Feedback subforum to see if they already have a thread. If they do not, you may create one for them.
Hearts of Clay is not responsible for the sales in the Marketplace, individual users are. Please proceed with caution. Porcelain BJDs are quite expensive, and this has been known to attract scammers and unscrupulous people. Do not agree to pay for a doll unless you feel very sure the doll in actually in the seller’s possession. If you sell a doll, we strongly recommend you use tracking and insurance so you can verify if and when the doll arrives at your buyer’s address.
Note On Accusations of Copying, Scamming, or Recasting
We mods want to take a strong stance against scammers and recasters. We also will not allow the forum to become a venue for attacks or harassment.
It is difficult to draw the line between designs that evolved independently, were inspired by other artists, or are direct copies. We mods may not be able tell the difference, and it is not our responsibility to be the last word on these issues. Serious accusations of illegal activity should be dealt with in a serious manner, which means via private email with legal counsel at hand, not publicly in our forum.
We do believe in holding artists accountable for their work and in informing potential buyers. Therefore, if you have firsthand experience with a doll artist, we strongly encourage you to post about it in the Artist and Company Feedback section of the forum. Feedback posts may refer to transactions held off-site or before the forum was created, as long as they are first person accounts that involve an exchange of money. It is our hope that this will become a valuable resource that creates an accurate picture of each artist's business.
If anyone has information about an artist or doll that they feel calls into question whether that doll or artist should be included in this forum, we encourage you to talk privately to the Moderators about it. We can then decide if it is appropriate to take action. We will take all this information seriously and do our best to prevent the forum being used by scammers or people that recast dolls.
To help with issues of this nature and other questions users may have for the moderators, we have created a new subforum called Ask The Moderators where users can post questions or voice concerns privately. You can post questions of any sort in this forum and only you (the original poster) and the moderators will be able to view them.
Thank you all for your cooperation in making this forum a wonderful place to be!
