Hello everyone!
I went to a ball jointed doll meet-up for Asian BJDs (made of resin). At the meet, someone had with them a porcelain BJD! I have always wanted a porcelain BJD. There is something so delicate and fragile about them. And their durability in terms of paint and non-yellowing is very appealing to me.
I was so fascinated with the doll and fell in love with her instantly. She wasn't really my style in terms of what she was wearing, but her face and body style were so lovely! Then, the owner said she was actually looking to sell her! I had a very rare outfit piece for BJDs with me that she wanted, so we agreed to trade the outfit for her doll plus $50 from me. I felt as if I got this doll for only $50! It was such a happy moment for me.
Once I got home, I discovered that she was a Forgotten Hearts doll from the pirate line, wearing a "Borrowers" line wig. None of these things were anything I would pick for her myself, so I stripped her of them and started to create my own outfit for her. I really like the colors white, silver, and gold. So I make her a dress of silver lace. I don't know if its peculiar or not, but I enjoy tasteful nudity with porcelain dolls because I find their body construction so lovely. So I wanted something that would allow her body to be seen through her clothing. I thought lace was a good choice! I am still going to add beads to the garment.
I am currently waiting on a wig I will have commissioned for her. I am hoping for a white mohair wig. Right now she wears a wig I found at the thrift store for $0.50! It is too large for her but it will do while we wait.
(after I removed her original dress, but otherwise how I got her)
(In her new hand-made dress and found wig! I sewed together 8 pieces of lace by hand to create the dress! It shines silver in the light).
(Her pretty face! Please ignore my nails, the polish came off after sewing for so many hours)
(I add some beads down the back! They need to be re-enforced more straight still).
Thank you for viewing my first porcelain beauty! I can't wait to have her all put together
